It?s no big secret that Apple has been working on a mapping and navigation solution for some time. Now it appears that the concerted effort to move as far away from Google-owned patents as possible is finally coming to fruition, after a series of images reportedly showing the software in action have surfaced online.
The images, which were uncovered by one of BGR?s ?trusted sources,? don?t show a whole lot, but they do appear to confirm the inclusion of 3D mapping. This comes courtesy of Apple?s acquisition of C3 Technologies, a specialist in the field.
The screenshots also appear to show a refreshed, silver visual style, which may be a hint at what is to come from the next version of Apple?s hugely popular mobile OS.
The software is apparently being put through its paces in an alpha-build of iOS 6, so users may get their hands on the app as soon as next month, when the next iteration of the operating system is expected to be revealed. But while WWDC is being discussed as a potential launchpad for the new software it?s far from official-?so don?t be disappointed and grouchy with us if it doesn?t materialize!
